The
Dawson Kiln Sitter is a mechanical devise which removes
power form the heating elements when cone is achieved. It is supplied
as standard equipment on all Classic,TnB and Fyrematic kilns.
How the Dawson
Kiln Sitter works
You set a small pyrometric cone into the Kiln Sitter and proceed to
fir e the kiln. When the proper amount of "heatwork" is
done the cone will bend (deform) which releases the sitter's
mechanical action
which removes power to the heating elements.
Does
the kiln sitter control the heating?
No. The Kiln Sitter simply removes power from the heating elements
when proper cone is achieved. It has no other function.
with
Limit Timer (additional
cost on some models)
What
is the Limit Timer for?
The Limit Timer is used to remove power from the elements after a
certain period of time. This is what may be called a "back up"
in the event of Kiln Sitter failure. The Limit Timer should never
remove power during normal operation.
Can
I use ANY pyrometric cone in the Kiln Sitter?
No. A witness cone (self-supporting) should
not be used in the sitter.
