RampMaster II ® Automatic Controller

The RampMaster II® is a fully programmable, automatic temperature controller and "built-in" on all RampMaster II series kilns.
It is also available as a stand alone Wall Mounted unit.
Only 6 keys are needed to operate a
RampMaster II series kiln
-- it's that simple to use!
You can also control your RampMaster II via your personal computer using the KISS software package.
Click on the "Evenheat Manuals Online" menu button if you would like
complete details and instructions about the
RampMaster II® automatic controller.

Evenheat has attempted to make using any RampMaster II series kilns as easy a possible to use. One reason for the ease of use is the user-friendly shape of the keypad for the RampMaster II Automatic Controller.

Each group of keys uses a different shape, as you can see by the shapes of the Option keys (buttons) and the Cone Fire Mode keys. You'll find how this simple design layout actually helps you when setting up your kiln to fire and makes it so simple and easy to use to program your kiln. Cone Fire Mode Keys

  Personal Computer Connectivity
Special, optional software\hardware packages are available that allow the RampMaster II to be connected directly to your PC. This software allows you to program, monitor, graph and control your kilns via your PC. The software packages are known as KISS (Kiln Interface Software System).
Kiss Starter Kit The KISS Starter Kit (SM-1) is needed to connect the first or initial kiln to your PC while the
Kiss Kiln Kits KISS Kiln Kits (KM-1) are used to connect additional kilns to your, now established, KISS network
Start/Stop Key Start/Stop Key
Simply press the Start/Stop key, while the OFF indicator light is lit, to start the RampMaster II program running. By pressing the Start/Stop key again(ON Indicator light lit) will stop the program.
LED Display LED Display
The term LED means "Light Emitting Diode" in tech talk. For everyone else it means lights and in this case the lighted display that indicates temperatures, times, etc. The RampMaster II is equipped with a large, 4 character display that can easily be seen from a distance. It's also well lit which means it can be seen in relatively bright conditions.
Fahreinheit or Celsius Key Temperature Display
The large digit LED temperature display is shown continuously during RampMaster II firing, keeping you informed of vital temperature information. Temperatures are displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius (Centigrade). Changing between the two scales is fairly easy via the keypad - but not so easy where it can be changed by accident.
Ramp Mode Programming key Ramp Mode Programming
If you want to develop your own, personal firing program the RampMaster II gives you this choice. Ramp Mode Programming offers six individual programs defined by you. Each of the six programs allows for up to eight firing segments. A segment is simply a grouping of: rate of temperature increase or decrease, a set point temperature, and soak, if desired. For those needing more than 8 segments  the RampMaster II also allows you to combine the two user programs for a total of 16 segments.
Keypad Key Layout and Design
Sometimes, electronic control keys tend to look identical while performing multiple functions. Pretty soon everything is a blur and you don't know what to press next. The RampMaster II faceplate is designed so that individual or group key shapes to help define key function and each group of  keys (buttons) use a different shape. In this way, key groups and programming modes become more clearly defined and easier to use.
Cone Fire Mode key Cone Fire Mode
Today's bisque and glaze firings have changed. Gone are the days when "close enough" was "good enough". With the advent of new lead free glazes and closer tolerance clays,  "close enough" doesn't work!  We must now, more than ever, consider the glaze / clay body fit or compatibility. For successful firing, modern ceramic ware requires attention to temperature rates, changes in rates during the firing, as well as, the final cone number. The RampMaster II takes these considerations into account by offering four, preset firing profiles (programs): Fast Bisque, Slow Bisque, Fast Glaze and Slow Glaze. Through the use of multiple temperature rate changes and temperature set points during the firing, each program is tailored to meet the needs of modern ceramic ware.
Otions - Delay Start key Delay Start
Delay the actual start time of the firing using the Delay Start feature. This is great when electrical rates are lower at different times of the day or when it's just too darn hot to fire an extra kiln. Evenheat recommends that you monitor a kiln during a firing. Things happen and it's best that you know what the kiln's doing.
Options - Alarm Key Alarm
During many types of firing you may need to know when a certain temperature is reached. The RampMaster II has a built in Alarm feature that can be set to any temperature. Once that temperature is reached the alarm sounds, alerting you. If you have ever missed the perfect set point, you can see the value.
Options - Other: Advanced Features key Other - Advanced Features
The RampMaster has many advanced features for those wishing to fine tune. These features include: Cone Offset to adjust equivalent cone temperatures, Thermocouple Offset (The RampMaster II uses a type K thermocouple) to adjust thermocouple response, Skip Segment to move ahead to any segment in Ramp Mode operation and the ability to enable and disable Error Codes.
Cone Table Key Cone Table
Curious to know the equivalent cone temperature? Use the cone table to look up temperature equivalents of cones 022 through 10. (108¡F table)
Review Program Key Review Program
A Review Program key causes the display to indicate the current program settings. A wonderful way to double check your program before starting the firing.
View Segments key View Segment
When operating in the Ramp Mode it's always nice to know what segment the program is currently performing. A quick press on the View Segment key gives this information.
