What
is a RampMaster II Wall Mount Control?
The RampMaster II Wall Mount Control is a controller package designed
to "automate" a currently manually controlled kiln. The manually controlled
kiln is "plugged into" (or direct wired depending) into the Wall Mount
Control. The Wall Mount is then "plugged into" the power supply. Beyond
that, the thermocouple is inserted into the kiln and it's ready to go.
If you want to automate your existing manual kiln - this controller is
all you need.
Can the
RampMaster II be used on any manually controlled kiln?
As a general rule, yes. When we speak of manually controlled kilns we
speak of kilns fitted with a combination of On-Off
Switch,
Infinite
Switch, and
Low-Med-High
Switch,
as well as Dawson
Kiln Sitter.
The Wall Mount Controller is rated only for 120 and 240 Volt, single phase
kilns.
Dual -Control
kilns
There are some types of kilns which may have these types of switches,
among others, that are not fully manual. Let's call them dual control.
They may use motors to mechanically rotate switches and the like. In cases
like this it's a judgment call. The odds are that a chaotic effect will
result along with disappointment. Evenheat model series such as TnB and
Fyrematic would fall into this group.
Can the
RampMaster II be used to control more than one kiln?
No. The Wall Mount Controls are designed to control a single kiln only.
Can I use the
KISS software package with the RampMaster
II Wall Mount?
Absolutely!
What
do I need to know when purchasing?
WRMII controller is rated for wall receptacle amperage, not Kiln amperage.
Specify Evenheat Kiln model or another manufacturers NEMA configuration when
ordering. Voltage, phase and kiln amperage can/should be found on the kiln
nameplate. So far as plug configuration, either contact an electrician or
look to our Receptacle page for guidance.
The Wall Mount Controller is not rated for 208 Volt kilns.
